The Mughal Empire has been known for its grand architecture and royal cuisine, but in addition he was also very fond of fragrances. The Mughals introduced the world to many unique and seductive perfumes. Inspired by these fragrances, French famous perfumer Jacques Adourd Geralain created a fragrance called 'Shalimar' in 1921, which still remains the hallmark of classic French perfumes.
This perfume was inspired by the love story of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Shah Jahan had built a magnificent Shalimar Bagh in Kashmir besides the Taj Mahal for his girlfriend. When an Indian Maharaja told Jax Gerlain about this love story, he was so impressed that he decided to mold it into a perfume – a perfume that is worthy of the Emperor, unmatched and became a symbol of grandeur.
In 1921, Jacques Gerralain presented his unique fragrance to 'Shalimar'. Its bottle was made of bottle crystal, which made a splash in France as soon as it was launched. It was officially launched in 1925 and on seeing it became famous worldwide. Today, after more than a century has passed, 'Shalimar' remains the most prestigious fragrance of the Gerlain brand.
The popularity of this perfume can be gauged from the fact that 108 bottles are sold every hour around the world. 'Shalimar' is the most important perfume of the Gerlain brand and is the most liked perfume in the world after 'La Petit Rob Noor'. To make the brilliant and royal feeling of 'Shalimar' even more special, Jacques Geralain's cousin Raymond Geralain designed its bottle. The bottle lid was blue, fan -shaped, inspired by a special silver object of the Gerralain family.
Let me tell you that this bottle was produced by Baikara Crystal and it was awarded the Decorative Arts Exhibition Award in 1925.
For more than 100 years, 'Shalimar' has been making its place in the world of perfume. It is not just a fragrance, but a lively memorable memorable of love, grandeur and Mughal heritage. Even today, this perfume remains the definition of royal fragrance around the world and the pride of the Gerlain brand remains.
