Actor Chandan Roy Sanyal recently opened up about his experience working with Bobby Deol in Ek Badnaam Aashram Season 3 – Part 2 directed by Prakash Jha. Sharing his bond with Bobby Deol Chandan said “Bobby sir trusted me and showed me a lot of love. Prakash sir also wanted us to have a friendly bond off-screen so that it reflects in our performances. We spent a lot of time together - chatting having meals and even waiting for each other between shoots. These small moments helped shape our on-screen chemistry.” The series directed by Prakash Jha features Bobby Deol Aaditi Pohankar Darshan Kumaar Chandan Roy Sanyal Vikram Kochhar Tridha Choudhury Anupriya Goenka Rajeev Siddhartha and Esha Gupta in key roles. Chandan plays Bhopa Swami the right-hand man of Baba Nirala a self-proclaimed godman played by Bobby Deol. Talking about his character Chandan told ANI “Having played this role from the start I knew the small details that made Bhopa Swami unique. People loved his character traits—hes ruthless but also a loyal friend. In this season he falls in love and even betrays Baba which surprised the audience. I enjoyed portraying the different shades of this role.” Reflecting on his journey Bobby Deol shared that Aashram was the breakthrough he had been waiting for. “Prakash sir believed in me and I finally got the kind of role I had always wanted. God was kind to me” he said. Director Prakash Jha also praised Bobby Deol’s performance saying “I needed a face that would connect with the audience and Bobby worked really hard for this role. I told him ‘Don’t watch any videos of real-life babas -just believe that you are one.’” Talking about preparing for the role Bobby added “Prakash sir told me ‘People will listen to you keep that in mind.’ He guided me to avoid making the character a caricature. Every actor in the series has done a great job.” Bobby also recalled his initial reaction when Prakash Jha offered him the role. “When I first heard about the series I thought I would be playing a police officer. But when Prakash sir told me ‘You will be playing the baba’ I couldn’t believe it.” Ek Badnaam Aashram Season 3 - Part 2 is available for free streaming from February 27 on Amazon MX Player.
