Municipal Corporation Lucknow has seized the bank account of Kalyan Singh Super Specialty Cancer Institute and Hospital. This action has been taken on the huge amount of house tax (house tax) on the hospital. According to the information, the hospital had an outstanding amount of Rs 9 crore 2 thousand 339 till 31 March 2025, which was sent several times to repay, but was not paid.
Bills and demand notices were issued by the Municipal Corporation as per rules. Apart from this, the authorities also personally approached the hospital administration and appealed to pay the arrears. However, despite all efforts, the hospital has not yet paid this amount, after which the Municipal Corporation had to take strict steps.
There is a provision to attach the property under Section 509 to 516 of the Municipal Corporation Act 1959. Exercising this right, the corporation has seized the bank account of the hospital. Until no dues certificate is obtained from the Municipal Corporation, no amount will be withdrawn from the bank.
This action of the municipal corporation has increased the pressure on the hospital management. Now either the hospital administration will have to pay the outstanding amount at the earliest or to find a solution in a legal manner. At present, the municipal officials say that the accounts will not be restored until the entire arrears are paid.
The matter also showed that the Municipal Corporation is now ready to take a tough stand against the defaulters. Such action can be continued in future also to curb the trend of not paying tax by big institutions.
