If you have any pending bank work, it’s time to wrap it up soon! Banks across the country are set to remain closed for four consecutive days, disrupting services for customers. The banking operations will resume on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.

Plan Ahead: Banks Closed from March 22 to March 25

If you need to visit the bank for any urgent work, make sure to complete it before Friday, March 21. From Saturday, March 22, until Tuesday, March 25, banks will not be operational due to a combination of weekend closures and a two-day nationwide strike.

  • March 22 (Saturday): Banks closed as per normal working schedule
  • March 23 (Sunday): Weekly holiday
  • March 24-25 (Monday & Tuesday): Nationwide strike by bank employees

Why Are Bank Employees Going on Strike?

The strike has been called due to unresolved issues between banking unions and the government. Negotiations held in New Delhi on March 18 failed to yield a resolution, prompting banking employees to go ahead with a nationwide strike on March 24 and 25.

Bank employees are demanding:
More job recruitments to tackle staff shortages
Security guards in every branch for better safety
Implementation of a five-day workweek
Restoration of the old pension scheme
Prevention of privatization of banking services
Regularization of contract workers

Will UPI & ATM Services Be Affected?

While bank branches will be closed, customers need not worry about digital transactions. UPI, mobile banking, internet banking, and ATM services will function as usual, ensuring minimal inconvenience to users.

Final Reminder!

To avoid any disruptions, make sure to complete your banking tasks before March 21. After that, physical banking services will resume only on March 26. Stay updated and plan accordingly!
