New Delhi: Corbin Bosch a 30-year-old all-rounder from South Africa received a legal notice from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after he opted out of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to join the Mumbai Indians (MI) as a replacement for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Bosch has reportedly responded to the PCB explaining that he chose this path to focus on his future as MI is associated with other franchises in various leagues.
Bosch provided his explanation to Pakistani officials stating that his decision was not meant to disrespect PSL. He said he had to prioritize his future as Mumbai Indians are not only a strong IPL team but also have franchises in multiple other leagues which could benefit his career significantly revealed a report by Cricket Pakistan.
The report indicated that Boschs explanation will be assessed by the PCB. There is a chance he could face a ban from future PSL editions or alternatively receive a penalty. An official statement from the PCB is anticipated later this month.
Bosch has been contracted by the Peshawar Zalmi franchise in the diamond category of the PSL. A replacement for Bosch has not yet been announced. The PSL is set to begin on April 11 with Peshawar taking on the Quetta Gladiators in their first match on April 12.
Bosch has been signed by Hardik Pandyas MI to replace South African fast bowler Lizaad Williams. It remains uncertain if Bosch will make his debut for MI in the upcoming intense match against Ruturaj Gaikwads Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Given that the game will take place at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai MI may prefer to select spin-bowling all-rounder Mitchell Santner or Afghan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman instead of the South African pace-bowling all-rounder.
MI is Boschs second franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has also been associated with the Rajasthan Royals (RR) although he did not have the opportunity to debut in the IPL. To date he has taken 59 wickets in 86 matches and has scored 663 runs which includes two half-centuries. His selection in the squad is based on his recent performances.
