Delhi Residents Brace for Heatwave, Light Rain Possible Today and Tomorrow
Delhi Weather Update (News Media), New Delhi: Light rain is anticipated in the capital today and tomorrow due to the influence of a western disturbance. However, this precipitation is unlikely to provide any relief from the heat. Despite the rain, temperatures are expected to soar, potentially reaching 40 degrees by the end of this week.
On Tuesday, the maximum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 30.7 degrees Celsius, which increased to 32.8 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. The minimum temperature has consistently remained below 15 degrees for two consecutive days, with a recorded low of 14.2 degrees Celsius, which is 2.3 degrees below normal. Dusty winds have been prevalent throughout the day, and similar wind speeds of 10-30 kilometers per hour are expected on Thursday. As the week progresses, both daytime and nighttime temperatures are set to rise, with forecasts indicating temperatures could reach 40 degrees between March 25 and March 27, creating an early sense of summer typically felt in April and May. Clear skies will exacerbate the heat.
This winter, not only Delhi but the entire northern plains of India have experienced below-average rainfall. This lack of moisture in the air has led to higher than normal temperatures being recorded earlier than usual. Since January 20, most days have seen temperatures above the normal range, and this trend is expected to continue. Meteorologists have warned residents to prepare for an extended period of heat this season.
