The Kapoor family is one of the most renowned khandaan in Bollywood. The first Kapoor actor Prithviraj Kapoor turned out to be a trailblazer in the industry. Following him members of the Kapoor family carried forward the legacy. However do you know that the Kapoor family had a long-standing tradition that the daughters or daughters-in-law of the family were not allowed to work in the film industry after marriage? Yes you read that right! However shattering the shackles of patriarchy there was one woman who broke the tradition and stepped into the industry but only for a brief time.
While you may think it is Karisma Kapoor let us tell you that the person in discussion is Raj Kapoor and Krishna Malhotras daughter Ritu Nanda. She made her debut as a child artist in Shree 420 but never worked in Bollywood again. She even featured in the iconic song Pyaar Hua Iqrar Hua from the movie Shree 420.
However Ritu only appeared in this film. After that she never acted in any movies and stepped away from the industry. Later she married Indian industrialist Rajan Nanda in 1944. The couple was blessed with two children Nikhil Nanda and a daughter Natasha Nanda.
Furthermore Nikhil Nanda tied the knot with Amitabh Bachchans daughter Shweta Bachchan. Hence the Kapoors and the Bachchans share a very close bond.
Ritu Nanda a businesswoman and insurance consultant served as the Chairman and CEO of Ritu Nanda Insurance Services (RNIS). She once made it to the Guinness Book of World Records for selling an impressive 17000 pension policies in a single day.
