The park will be constructed as part of the Central Government’s Swadesh Darshan 2.0 initiative and will be modeled after Nico Park in Kolkata.

After the project was approved, quick progress was given priority. In order to evaluate the region, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury visited the location with locals and other authorities, including Rajib Kaul, Managing Director of Kolkata Nico Park; Chairman Rahul Mitra; Arup Goswami; Tourism Secretary Uttam Kumar Chakma; and others.

Minister Chowdhury expressed hope, saying that the development of this park would greatly help the people of the area by raising locals’ quality of life and generating job possibilities.

This project paves the stage for further economic and social advancement and represents a major milestone in Tripura’s tourism and infrastructure development.

The state government has taken a number of actions to promote Kokborok and other minority languages, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha told the assembly earlier on Monday. He also told them that the hiring process for around 401 Assistant Professors is now in progress.

The chief minister was responding to cut motions on Supplementary Demands for Grants for the Financial Year 2024-25 on the second day of the Tripura Legislative Assembly session.

“The current state administration has been putting forth a lot of effort to support the growth of Kokborok and other minority languages. In order to support Kokborok and other minority languages, the state government has taken a number of actions. In the 2024–25 fiscal year, a fund of Rs 2 crore 16 lakh 78 thousand was made available, along with additional grants of Rs 52 lakh 98 thousand, according to Chief Minister Saha.

“We have been doing seminars, workshops, and book publication for Kokborok and other minority language learners who are able to read in their home tongue; funding is required for these activities. We are unable to reduce the sum under these conditions,” he said.

The state has 25 degree colleges, 5 professional degree colleges, 6 polytechnic institutions, 1 degree technical institute, and 3 NCC Units under the Higher Education department, according to Saha, who also oversees the Education portfolio.
