Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, on Tuesday, March 25, presented the newly-elected BJP government's first budget, with an outlay of Rs 1 lakh crore, recording a 31.5% increase from the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) budget for the previous year.
This is the first budget presented by the BJP-led government after its historic Assembly election victory in the national capital after nearly a decade. CM Gupta said that the budget is focused on fulfilling its election promises from February, and prioritises healthcare, education, and road infrastructure, by doubling the capital expenditure to Rs 28,000 crore.

Here are the key highlights:
Healthcare Boost: Rs 2,144 crore have been allocated for the PM Jan Arogya Yojana to enhance healthcare accessibility in the national capita for the underprivileged.
Yamuna Revitalisation: Rs 500 crore are earmarked for cleaning the Yamuna, ensuring only treated water enters the river through 40 decentralized Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs).
Mahila Samridhi Yojana: Rs 5,100 crore have been set aside to provide Rs 2,500 per month to eligible women, in order to support their financial independence.
Improved Connectivity: Rs 1,000 crore have been allocated to enhance transport infrastructure and connectivity across Delhi-NCR.
Slum Development: Rs 696 crore have been designated for infrastructure development and the upliftment of slum clusters across the city.
Affordable Meals Initiative: Rs 100 crore are allocated to establish 100 Atal Canteens across Delhi, providing subsidised meals to the low-income groups.
Women's Safety: 50,000 new CCTV cameras are set to be installed across the city to enhance women's security and surveillance.
Water and Sanitation Upgrade: Rs 9,000 crore are allocated to improve Delhi’s water supply and sanitation infrastructure.
Business and Investment Promotion: A Traders' Welfare Board is likely to be set up, and a Global Investment Summit will be organised every two years to boost the city's economic growth.
Sewage Infrastructure Upgrade: Rs 500 crore are allocated for repairing and upgrading the Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs), along with Rs 250 crore for replacing old sewer lines.
Road and Bridge Infrastructure: Rs 3,843 crore have been allocated for expanding and improving roads and bridges across the city.
Education Reform: Rs 100 crore are set aside to establish the new 'CM Shri Schools' aimed at providing high-quality education.
Health Sector Investment: Rs 6,874 crore are dedicated to strengthening healthcare, including the expansion of health and wellness centers and the 'Ayushman Arogya Mandir' services.
Student Support Initiative: Rs 750 crore are allocated to provide free laptops to 1,200 students who passed Class X, in order to promote digital education.
