Special facility for women

Let us tell you that the Railways reserves lower berths (lower seats), especially for women above 45 years of age, Divyang passengers, and pregnant women. So that women do not have to face the problem of climbing to the upper berth (upper seat). Similarly, this facility is also given to pregnant women and Divyang passengers. The automated ticketing system of the Railways gives priority to these special category passengers and automatically allows lower berths, even if they do not select it during online ticket booking.

Indian Railways

Indian Railways has reserved some seats in every category of bogie for senior citizens, differently abled, and pregnant women. In Sleeper Class (SL), 6-7 seats in every coach are reserved as lower berths and in Third AC (3AC) 4-5 seats are reserved for special passengers. In Second AC (2AC), 3-4 seats are available as lower berths.

Automated system

An automated algorithm has been incorporated into the railway's ticket booking system which allows lower berths based on age and category during ticket booking. As soon as a senior citizen, differently, abled or pregnant woman passenger enters their details, the railway's system allows them to lower berths on a priority basis.
