The thrill of IPL 2025 continues. The seventh match of the 18th season is being played between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). In this match, Lucknow all-rounder Shardul Thakur has given a befitting reply to the critics by taking four wickets. He remained unsold in the mega auction.
Completed 100 wickets in IPL
Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur entered Lucknow just before the start of the 18th season of IPL. He was included by the franchise in place of the injured Mohsin Khan. In the first match played against Delhi, Shardul bowled two overs and took two wickets. In the match against Hyderabad on Wednesday, the 33-year-old bowler took four wickets for 34 runs in his four-over spell. With this, he reached the top of the Purple Cap race. Now he has a total of six wickets to his name and he has also completed 100 wickets in IPL.
Had wreaked havoc in Ranji Trophy
Shardul had performed brilliantly for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy after returning from foot surgery. He scored 505 runs in nine matches in Ranji and took 35 wickets. After not being selected in the IPL auction, Thakur had signed a contract with Essex to play county cricket. However, Shardul had already told Essex that if any IPL franchise includes him in their team in place of an injured player, he will accept the offer. Mohsin suffered a right knee injury during the Vijay Hazare Trophy in December last year. He then joined the camp of the Lucknow team but is still undergoing the process of recovering from the injury.
Shardul's performance in IPL
Shardul has previously been a part of Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Rising Pune Supergiants teams. He has so far taken 102 wickets in 99 matches in this league. His economy rate has been 9.23. His best bowling performance is four wickets for 36 runs. Apart from this, he has also scored 307 runs at a strike rate of 136.44. This includes a half-century.

Before the start of the match, it was speculated that Hyderabad, playing the match at home, could score more than 300. However, the deadly bowlers of Lucknow did not let them even touch the 200 mark. Abhishek Sharma, who came out to open the batting, was out after scoring just six runs. After this, Ishan Kishan, who scored a century in the last match, could not even open his account today. Shardul Thakur dismissed both the batsmen on two consecutive balls in the third over of the innings.
