West Kameng: At a developmental meeting, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu said that the state is moving toward faster development via reformation, performance, and transformation.

He emphasized the significant progress the state has achieved since he assumed leadership in 2016 in terms of GSDP, State Budget, per capita income, GST collection, and state-owned resources.

Khandu told attendees of a developmental forum in Shergaon, West Kameng district, on Sunday that the GSDP of Arunachal Pradesh had grown by 135% since 2016.

“The state budget increased to over Rs 40,000 crore in 2025 from Rs 12,500 crore in 2016.” Our per capita income has increased by 105%, GST revenue has increased by 584%, and our state-owned resources, which were only worth Rs 900 crore in 2016, have increased to almost Rs 40,000 crore this year, Khandu said.

The chief minister praised all of the stakeholders for the significant advancements the state has seen over the last eight or nine years, including his cabinet, fellow MLAs, panchayat members, the chief secretary, and district officials.

“We are lucky to have a Prime Minister in Narendra Modi, who believes that India will progress only when India’s North East progresses,” he said.

Arunachal Pradesh is at the forefront and a hot subject of conversation nationwide, according to Pema Khandu, who spoke about “Team Arunachal.”

“The reason is not only that we share international boundaries with three countries, but it’s also about us, our potentials and our pace of development in all spheres,” Khandu said.

Khandu said that since 2016, rural connection has grown by 251% and national highways by 143%, citing road connectivity as one of the main drivers of state growth.

“Connecting almost all unconnected ADC, CO headquarters and villages across the state was made possible by our futuristic Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Road Development Programme,” Khandu said.

Khandu said that the Balemu-Kalaktang distance would be reduced from the current 50 km to around 19.2 km thanks to the federal government’s approval of the realignment of the OKSRT (Orang-Kalaktang-Shergaon-Rupa-Tenga) route.

In response to many memorandums filed during the event, the Chief Minister said that the PWD is now surveying the Shergaon to Mandala top route and promised clearance as soon as feasible. He also promised favorable consideration for the desired stadium in Shergaon, water projects for Kalaktang and Rupa townships, and the Shergaon to Doimara route.

For the district’s Kalaktang assembly seat, Khandu earlier in the day inaugurated 14 projects totaling Rs 102 crore and set the groundwork for 21 further projects totaling Rs 126 crore.

A number of people attended the developmental meeting, including the Chief Secretary, former Chief Minister PK Thungon, BJP State President Kaling Moyong, Home Minister Mama Natung, MLAs Phurpa Tsering, Dongru Siongju, Tenzing Nima Glow, and Tseten Chombay (local lawmaker), and others.
