Mumbai Police SC ‘B’ riding on the brilliant bowling spell of medium-pacer Shreyas Pawar (5 for 17) managed to record a narrow 12-run victory against Union Bank of India and emerge champions of the Elite Group of the 14th Insurance Shield T20 cricket tournament, organised by Oriental Insurance Company and played at Cross Maidan.
Choosing to bat first, Mumbai Police batting line-up found the going tough and only managed to post a score of 122 all out in 19.5 overs. Middle-order bat Hashim Sayyed was the top-scorer with 31 runs while Akash Malbari and opening batsman Tanmay Mayekar contributed 23 and 20 runs respectively to lift the innings. Union Bank bowlers Komal Tandel 3 for 29, Tanay Khandeshi 2 for 0 from one over and Gaurav Dhanwar 2 for 31 claimed the wickets.
Defending a low target the Mumbai Police bowlers rose to the challenge and restricted Union Bank of India to 110 all out in 18.5 overs to finish on a triumphant note. Roop Kumar Yadav played a good knock scoring 46 runs, while Adil Shaikh and Faizan Rabbani both an identical 22 runs. Shreyas Pawar with a good bowling effort ensured Mumbai Police record a win and become champions.
