World’s richest man Elon Musk shared his views on artificial intelligence taking over jobs stating that in the future probably none of us will have a job. Speaking at the VivaTech 2024 conference in Paris he expressed his belief that in the future AI and robots will take care of everything leaving human jobs as something optional like a hobby. Musk further stated that in such a world where AI will take over human jobs there would be a need for a universal high income to ensure that people receive enough money to live on. This could be a dream for several people or a nightmare depending upon how they see it. Highlighting a deeper concern Musk stated would people still feel a sense of purpose? The question will be one of meaning—if the computer and robots can do everything better than you does your life have meaning? he asked suggesting that humans can play a role of giving AI a sense of purpose. However some people differ from Elon Musk’s vision. As per researchers at MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab workplaces are adopting AI slowly as some have feared. Recent research indicates that while AI was predicted to automate numerous jobs economic factors currently hinder widespread implementation. Furthermore professions emphasizing human interaction such as teaching art and therapy are considered less susceptible to AI replacement. Elon Musk expressed concerns about artificial intelligences potential impact on employment and childrens well-being. He advised parents to restrict their childrens social media use citing the addictive nature of AI-driven platforms.  While provocative his statements have ignited discussion regarding the extent of AIs future influence on both the job market and society.  The long-term implications remain a topic of ongoing debate.
