New Delhi [India]: Four days after the event, former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal was released from the hospital after he recovered from a heart attack. According to ESPNcricinfo, Tamim, who had angioplasty surgery on Monday, will continue to be closely watched by experts in the next weeks.
On Monday, while participating in a match at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP-3) stadium in Savar, Tamim had a heart attack.
He was captaining Mohammedan Sporting Club in a Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League match against Shinepukur Cricket Club when the event happened, just after the toss.
After being taken to a local hospital right away, Tamim had an angiography done to evaluate his health. He was transferred to a different Dhaka hospital after two days, and on Friday he was released.
With 70 Test matches, 243 One Day Internationals (ODIs), and 78 T20 Internationals played for Bangladesh, Tamim Iqbal has had a remarkable career in international cricket.
With more than 15,000 international runs in all three game types, he is the only cricketer from Bangladesh to have hit hundreds.
He played his first One Day match against Zimbabwe in 2007, marking the start of his cricket career. After only two games, Tamim’s outstanding play secured him a place in the World Cup roster.
