In the year 2023, Dhawan got divorced from his wife Ayesha Mukherjee. Both got married in the year 2012. It was Dhawan's first marriage while Ayesha's second. This is the first time that Shikhar Dhawan is not playing in the IPL. He announced his retirement from international cricket and all types of domestic cricket in India last year. His last match for India was an ODI against Bangladesh in November 2022. However, Dhawan was seen playing in the first season of the Nepal Premier League last year.
