According to Rakesh Tiwari, president of the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA), the purpose of the forthcoming President Cup is to provide gifted cricket players in Bihar a chance to demonstrate their skills in red-ball cricket.

The president of the BCA said that the players would get the exposure they need to advance in their careers by participating in the President Cup. The first-ever ‘President Cup’ will take place here in Patna in April and May of 2025, according to BCA. On April 1, the President Cup will get underway.

“The Bihar Cricket Association’s attempts to promote cricket in the state have taken a major stride with this competition. It seeks to provide gifted cricket players a stage on which to demonstrate their skills in red-ball cricket and get the recognition they need to advance in their careers,” Rakesh Tiwari said.

Eight teams will compete in the two- or three-day President Cup, split into two groups. In order to provide athletes from all around the state a chance to show off their skills, these teams will be chosen from different districts in Bihar.

‘Search for Bowlers’ is a new effort that BCA has stated would debut soon. With the help of this strategic initiative, which aims to find, train, and develop young fast-bowling and spin-bowling talent across the state, aspiring cricket players between the ages of 16 and 25 will have the opportunity to further their careers.

Former Indian cricket players Venkatapathy Raju and Salil Ankola will collaborate closely with Anand Yalvigi, Director of Cricket Development and Operations, BCA, to identify Bihar’s latent fast-bowling and spin-bowling skills.

Salil Ankola and Venkatapathy Raju are both seasoned players. As a former India left-arm spinner who has served on coaching panels for many teams, Venkatapathy has extensive teaching expertise. In contrast, Salil Ankola has taken 13 wickets in 20 ODIs for India.

From May 2 to May 7, a talent discovery camp will take place in Patna’s Moin-ul-Haq Stadium to launch the ‘Search for Bowlers’ campaign.

Under the direction of the Cricket Director, local coaches and selectors will do the first round of player screening at this camp. Two former Test cricket players who have previously worked as national selectors will assess the selected applicants in the final round.

In order to prepare them for selection for the state squad, ten fast bowlers and ten spinners will be chosen and given the chance to participate in rigorous training sessions. Their development will be continuously evaluated during this process.

The initiative’s eligibility requirements include being a permanent resident of Bihar, being between the ages of 16 and 25, and not being competing in the “President Cup 2025.”
