viewers were left baffled after one player opted to play for the low offer of £300 despite claiming she wanted to put her winnings towards a deposit on a house. During Tuesday's visit (April 1) to the studios, Bradley Walsh welcomed four new hopefuls onto the teatime show. The 64-year-old welcomed Binesh, Tash, Omar, and Annabelle onto the show to put their general knowledge to the test.

The quartet went up against Anne 'The Governess' Hegery who certainly brought her A-game to the table after successfully catching first player Binesh. But minutes into the evening show, fans were left scratching their heads after Tash stepped up to the podium. The Liverpudlian revealed to the host that she planned to put whatever winnings she took home from the show towards a deposit. But before she faced off against the professional quizzer, the player decided to go for the low option to give her a better chance to secure her position in the final race.

It didn't take long before fans flooded to X - formerly known as Twitter - to point out her confusing game play online. One user penned: "£300? Won't get you a weekend at Centre Parcs NOT during a half term let alone a house deposit!#thechase."

Another agreed "Saving for a deposit for a house 'I'll take £300 please'.#TheChase," as a third added: "Wants a house deposit so takes the £300 offer. Won't even come close to covering the solicitors fees that. #TheChase."

A foruth fumed: "Brad choose your contestants more wisely mate, just turned over, sick of people wasting a once in a lifetime opportunity trying to win 300 quid ffs #TheChase."

"#thechase £300 omg and still goes out this program is past its best I think she will have to hide in embarrassment," another commented.

Meanwhile a sixth opined: "Anyone who takes the low offer of £300 on #Thechase deserves to go out."

Prior to her cashbuilder Tash told host Bradley: "Me and my partner, we are saving up for a house deposit so anything I win would go towards that."

However it was not to be. She managed to bank £3,000 before facing the chaser who offered her a choice of playing for that, a high value of £33,000 or the £300 which she opted for.

Despite taking the easier option she failed to beat Anne and left the show with nothing.
