IBM Layoff news: In a shocking set of events coming from IT world after Infosys and Google one more major IT company is laying off thousands of U.S. employees. In the recent report it has been revealed that International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) is reportedly laying off thousands of U.S. employees and moving them to India. According to the report the US employees have been trained to train the new Indian employees. Here are all the details you need to know.
According to the report by The Register employees were instructed to train their Indian replacements after being informed that they would soon be removed from the company. The report also said that IBM has posted 173 job openings since January this year with a total of 2946 positions available since November last year.
Moreover some of the laid-off employees who sought internal transfers were told that hiring was only happening in India.
A report from Global Data has quoted a former employee as saying that IBM currently lists more job openings in India than in the US reflecting the company’s ongoing strategy to use India’s large talent pool (that comes with a lower operating costs).

In another significant development The Indian government and IBM are exploring opportunities to collaborate on quantum computing artificial intelligence (AI) and geospatial AI solutions the Ministry of Science and Technology announced on Tuesday.
IBM’s Global Head Arvind Krishna met Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh to discuss how the two sides can work together in these advanced technology fields.
The meeting took place as India pushes forward with its National Quantum Mission an initiative aimed at making the country a global leader in quantum technology. Both sides recognised Indias rapid transformation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi which has placed the country at the forefront of AI and next-generation innovations.
