Customers of India's largest lender of India (SBI) are facing problems to online services. Interruption of online services includes internet banking and mobile banking.

The State Bank of India has admitted that the bank's UPI services, including its online services, are currently facing disruption.

SBI has advised its customers to use UPI lights, which is a simplified version of UPI, launched by the Reserve Bank of India in 2022, so that there is no obstruction in small-value transactions during the outage.

SBI tweeted, “Our digital services will not be available to our respected customers between 1 pm to 4 pm on 1.4.2025 due to annual closing activities. We request you to use UPI lights and ATM channels for uninterrupted services. We are sorry for inconvenience.”

Meanwhile, new UPI rules have come into force from today. From April 1, mobile number records will be updated weekly by bank and UPI app to reduce the transaction process errors. Due to security concerns, banks and UPI providers will gradually remove inactive UPI-linked numbers. Inactive numbers cannot be used to pay.
