Appearing on a TVB program aired Tuesday, Lee said Wong has been behind bars for the past year. He visits her twice a month, each visit lasting around 30 minutes, according to ST Headline.

During a recent visit, Lee asked: “You wanted to think more about our marriage.

“Are you still unsure? Will you marry me?”

Wong replied: “I am not hesitating anymore. Yes, I will marry you.”

The veteran actor said he is unfazed by their 38-year age gap and had gifted Wong gold jewelry as a symbol of his commitment.

Lee shared that Wong has written him 410 letters since her imprisonment. He has kept every one and admitted that he sometimes cries while reading them, touched by the bond they have maintained through adversity.

In his own letters, he often updates Wong on his daily life and social interactions to assure her of his loyalty and ease concerns sparked by rumors that he had abandoned her.

Wong, who is originally from mainland China, was arrested in Feb. 2024 for overstaying her Hong Kong tourist visa. Her trial began in May 2024, where she faced additional charges of using fake U.S. aviation college graduation certificates to fraudulently apply under Hong Kong’s Mainland Talents and Professionals Scheme.

In June 2024, she was sentenced to 25 months in prison on five offenses, including forgery and providing false information. Wong pleaded guilty and accepted her punishment, with her release scheduled for July 7.

Despite these setbacks, Lee remains devoted to marrying Wong and was spotted buying gold jewelry in preparation for their wedding. The actor also expressed his desire to lead a simple, peaceful life with Wong after her release, hoping to shield their relationship from the gossip that has surrounded it since they went public in 2020.

Lee is well known for his roles in “The Condor Heroes,” “The Smiling, Proud Wanderer,” “Journey to the West,” and “Forensic Heroes.” He has three children from his first marriage in the 1970s, all of whom are older than Wong.

The couple first met when Lee was 66.
