New Delhi [India]: The ‘PKL Level Up’ Player Development Workshop, which aims to improve kabaddi players’ abilities beyond the mat, was successfully held by Mashal Sports, the organization that runs the Pro Kabaddi League.
This program, which brought together industry specialists to provide players essential life skills, personal branding, and prospects for professional progress, was a critical milestone in professional kabaddi. The league’s dedication to developing its players and making sure they succeed on the professional and personal fronts was shown by the workshop.
Olympic bronze medallist PR Sreejesh, Alpi Chaudhari from Meta India, well-known content creator Deepak Pareek, Neha Mathur Rastogi, CEO and founder of WordsWork Communications Consulting, a top sports media relations firm in India, and Dr. Chaitanya Sridhar, a distinguished sports and depth psychologist from the Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS-JSW Sports), were among the outstanding speakers at the event. The program’s goal was to provide participants knowledge and resources for all-around growth.
Special exercises were incorporated in the program to assist players in properly navigating social media and being ready for press conferences and media interviews.
“When you win, people remember you, but the real growth comes from matches we don’t win,” PR Sreejesh stated while discussing how to improve as an athlete. We can learn what to do better the next time from it. In athletics, the most important lesson is straightforward: never give up. Every failure is followed by regret, but the one who perseveres the longest and puts in the most effort to become better is the one who wins in the end.
“However, life is more than simply what occurs on the field; what you do off it matters too. Your identity as an athlete is shaped by your behavior with family, your social media persona, and the ideals you uphold in your daily life,” he said throughout his session.
“Teamwork is essential because one person’s mistake affects the entire team, which is why mutual understanding becomes crucial,” the Indian hockey great said, highlighting the need of cooperation. Because respect is the cornerstone of sportsmanship, what transpires on the field remains on the field, and we reestablish our friendship after the game.
As the first female sports psychologist in the IPL, Chaitanya Sridhar, who has more than 20 years of expertise coaching top athletes, including Olympic medallists, created history with Royal Challengers Bengaluru. She emphasized how crucial mental health is for athletes. “Because athletic careers are brief, it’s essential to be mentally fit and handle stressful circumstances. The participants’ reflections throughout our interactive sessions were insightful. Athletes have a limited amount of time to recover from injuries or perform poorly, so maintaining mental readiness is crucial to their success.
The sport is based on the shoulders of our athletes. Their performance both on and off the mat is crucial because it establishes a standard for prospective kabaddi players who want to pursue this sport in the future, according to Pro Kabaddi League League Commissioner Anupam Goswami.
“These kinds of activities are essential as the seasons go because it is up to our players to shape how fans see kabaddi. Additionally, he said, “this workshop was a tiny step in that direction.”
Several important participants in the ‘PKL Level Up’ workshop, such as Pardeep Narwal, Ashu Malik, and Sachin Tanwar, actively participated in the workshops that addressed career management, leadership, communication skills, and personal branding. This program demonstrates that genuine success goes well beyond athletic accomplishments and establishes a new benchmark in professional sports support.
