He has also worked in Bengali cinema. In 2008 he got married to the love of his life Koyal Basu. Koyal Basu is the grand daughter of former West Bengal Chief Minister Jyoti Basu. In 2024 a case has been registered against Bollywood actor Sharad Kapoor for allegedly misbehaving with a woman and touching her inappropriately at his house in the western suburbs. The 32-year-old woman in her complaint has alleged that Sharad Kapoor invited her to his house on the pretext of discussing a film shoot. He called her into his bedroom behaved inappropriately and forcibly touched her the official said as per PTI report. However Kapoor had denied all allegations.
