Mumbai: Before becoming a beloved figure in Bollywood, Arjun Kapoor had aspirations that pointed towards a career in filmmaking rather than acting.
In a recent interview, he shared insights into his initial passion for directing and storytelling, which he cherished long before acting took precedence. He expressed, “The enchantment of cinema captivates me. Not everything needs to be rational — it's the conviction that creates the illusion. I have a fondness for Korean and European films. My dream was to become a filmmaker. RKRCKR was the most lavish film of its time, and I was spellbound; my love for cinema has endured. I have always been drawn to the creation process and find joy in understanding how films are crafted.”
Arjun also mentioned that witnessing his father's work on Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja sparked his creative interests from a young age.
Currently, the Gunday star is engrossed in watching The Day of the Jackal, featuring Eddie Redmayne, and shared his opinions on the legendary Top Gun series. When asked about his preference, he remarked, “Tony Scott’s film is the original. I admire his work. Then David Fincher introduced us to masterpieces like Seven and Fight Club.”
He voiced his concerns regarding contemporary film trailers, which often reveal too much of the plot, while praising the suspenseful teasers of films like Padmaavat, Animal, and Bajirao Mastani.
“Michael Bay’s trailers set the standard. They showcase the best scenes from the film. I want to experience the film's energy through the trailer. Animal had an impressive teaser and trailer! The Padmaavat trailer is stunning, featuring only beautiful visuals. It’s a director’s trailer, lasting three minutes. Bajirao Mastani also had remarkable trailers,” Arjun noted.
On the professional front, Arjun Kapoor was last seen in Mere Husband Ki Biwi, alongside Rakul Preet Singh and Bhumi Pednekar.
