Former Cricketers Express Condolences Following Pahalgam Terror Attack

In the wake of the tragic terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, former Indian cricketers have shared their heartfelt condolences. Anil Kumble, the former captain and head coach, expressed his sorrow on Twitter, stating, "It’s heartbreaking to learn about the tragic incident in Pahalgam. Innocent lives have been lost to senseless violence. I pray for strength and peace for the affected families. Let’s unite against hate."



VVS Laxman also took to social media, sharing his pain over the attack, saying, "I am deeply saddened by the attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam. My condolences go out to those who have lost loved ones. I hope for a swift recovery for the injured and that justice is served soon."



Suresh Raina voiced his heartbreak as well, condemning the attack and stating, "I am heartbroken by the Pahalgam terror attack today. This cowardly act by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists must be condemned. India stands united with our brave Army, J&K Police, and Paramilitary forces in the fight against terrorism. Justice will prevail."



Government Response and Public Mourning

Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the families of the victims outside the Police Control Room in Srinagar, paying tribute to those lost in the attack. He laid a wreath in a solemn ceremony, reflecting the collective grief felt across the Kashmir Valley and the nation.


Family members, visibly distressed, were seen expressing their sorrow to the Home Minister, highlighting the profound impact of the tragedy on their lives.


In New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a meeting with key officials, including External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, to discuss the implications of the recent attack in Pahalgam.


In a show of solidarity with the victims' families, political parties and traders' unions in the region have called for a complete shutdown in the Kashmir Valley today.
