Mumbai: Bollywood celebrities and prominent personalities have come out to voice their disgust and sympathy in the aftermath of the horrifying terror assault in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which took the lives of 25 Indian people and one Nepali citizen.
The country is in shock and mourning after the April 22 assault at Pahalgam’s gorgeous Baisaran meadow.
Recently starring in the film ‘The Sabarmati Report,’ actor Raashii Khanna expressed her profound sadness over the event and spoke out against the violence.
“I oppose violence. Everyone condemns violence,” she said, adding, “I’ve seen some films. Anyone who has seen them, in my opinion, will be devastated. I believe that none of us anticipated this event to occur. However, it has had an impact on our nation. The nation’s residents have felt the impact. I’ve been watching the news, and it’s devastating. I also oppose violence.
Raashii continued by expressing her sincere sympathy for the attack’s impacted families. “I deeply give my support and love to the families who are grieving,” she said. She continued, “I hope we fight this as a nation and come back strong.”
Actor Suniel Shetty has already advised Indians to spend their next vacation in Kashmir to boost the region’s tourist sector.
At the Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award 2025 event, Shetty spoke to the media and asked everyone to stand up to terrorism with resistance and togetherness.
“Kashmir me hi hogi aur kahi nhi hogi, hume nagrik ki taraf se ek hi karna hah, hume ye decide krna hah ki aaj se humaari agli chutti jo hogi.” One thing is required of us as citizens: unko ye dikhana hahi ki hume darr nhi hai, aur vakayi me darr nhi hai. We must make the decision that Kashmir will be the only destination for our next vacation. “We must demonstrate to them that we are not afraid, and we really are not afraid,” he said.
Additionally, Suniel offered the authorities his personal help, stating that he was prepared to go to Kashmir as a tourist or an artist if necessary.
“Maine khud phone kr ke bola hai ki agar kal aapko lagta hai ki hume vhaa aana hai, tourist ke haisiyat se you artist ki haisiyat se hume vha shooting krna hai you ghoomne jaana hai, hum aayenge,” he said.
Military activity has increased in Kashmir as a result of the horrific terror incident, which has raised security worries.
Upendra Dwivedi, the chief general of the Indian Army, arrived in Udhampur on Friday to assess the security conditions at the headquarters of Northern Command.
Senior military personnel briefed him on the security situation in the Kashmir Valley, including sensitive regions along the Line of Control (LoC).
Since the Pahalgam incident, the Army has conducted many operations to eliminate militants in the area.
Altaf Lalli, a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist associate, was killed by security forces Friday during a confrontation in Bandipora. Two security officers were also injured in the gunfight.
Tensions are still high and confrontations along the Line of Control persist despite the military’s continuous efforts.
The Indian government has responded to the incident with strong diplomatic actions. The government ordered the departure of several military advisers from the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi and announced the suspension of the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme for Pakistani citizens.
In addition, after the Pahalgam assault, India revoked the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty.
The Pakistani High Commission’s defense/Military, Naval, and Air Advisors were deemed Persona Non Grata, with a one-week deadline to depart India, according to confirmation from Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.
Additionally, India would cut down on the number of support employees in both High Commissions and remove its Defense, Navy, and Air Advisors from Islamabad.
