Kulgam: Security forces and Jammu and Kashmir (J-K) authorities destroyed the home of a suspect in the Pahalgam terrorist assault, which killed 26 people and wounded many more, officials said on Saturday.
Authorities assert that they destroyed Zakir Ahmad Ganie’s home in Mutalhama village in the Kulgam district. It is thought that Ganie was a part of the terror incident in Pahalgam, which rocked the nation.
According to the authorities, Gaine has been in operation since 2023. Adil Thokar, also known as Adil Guree, a terrorist for Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), lost his home earlier Friday.
It is thought that Adil Guree, a native of Guree village in the Bijbehara block of the Anantnag region of Jammu and Kashmir, was engaged in the Pahalgam assault, which murdered 26 people—mostly tourists, including a Nepalese person. The Anantnag Police have proclaimed him the most wanted and are offering a reward of Rs 20 lakh for any specific information that leads to his capture. The case also included two Pakistani nationals on the most wanted list.
Before returning to Jammu & Kashmir last year, Adil allegedly underwent terror training in Pakistan, where he had traveled illegally in 2018.
On the evenings of April 25 and 26, many Pakistan Army stations located along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir engaged in unprovoked small-scale shooting. Indian forces used small guns in a suitable response. There have been no recorded casualties.
One of the suspected terrorists in the Pahalgam incident, whose home was destroyed on Friday morning, has been referred to as a “Mujahideen” by his relatives.
Earlier, the homes of two Lashkar-e-Taliba terrorists, believed to be connected to the Pahalgam terror assault, were destroyed. The homes of terrorist Adil Guree in Anantnag and LeT terrorist Tral, Pulwama, were destroyed.
The terrorist’s sister, whose home was destroyed in Tral, told ANI, “I have two sisters and one brother who is in jail (the other brother is a ‘Mujahideen’).” My parents and siblings were not at their house when I arrived here yesterday from my in-laws’ residence. The police had taken them all away.
According to the sister, the family is innocent and is unaware of their brother’s participation.
Additionally, according to police officials, security personnel in the Kulgam area of Jammu and Kashmir (J-K) detained two terrorist sympathizers on Saturday.
Authorities said they took the two into custody from Thokerpora in the Qaimoh region of the district.
For the first time after the Pahalgam terror assault, Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi visited Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir, on Friday to assess the security situation in the Union Territory.
This comes in the wake of the terrorist assault on visitors in Pahalgam’s Baisaran Meadow on April 22, which claimed the lives of 25 Indians and one Nepali and wounded several others.
After the April 22 incident in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives, the Indian Army is on high alert and has launched several search operations to neutralize the terrorists.
Nationwide indignation has been triggered by the occurrence, and rallies calling for tougher sanctions against Pakistan for the Pahalgam assault have broken out all throughout the nation.
