New Delhi: A series of fabricated documents have emerged on social media, allegedly from pro-Pakistan accounts, aiming to mislead the public and undermine national security. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) has categorically denounced these documents as entirely false and part of a coordinated disinformation effort.
Using the hashtag #PIBFactCheck, the Indian government has reiterated that the documents purporting to disclose sensitive information about the Indian Army's operational readiness are completely untrue. PIB emphasized, "These documents are FAKE," and urged both citizens and media to refrain from disseminating unverified claims, instead advising reliance on official government communications for accurate information.
The misinformation campaign coincided with reports of India's intent to adopt a firmer approach against terrorism following the tragic events in Pahalgam. The false narrative suggested that the Integrated Defence Staff (IDS) of the Indian Army had expressed skepticism regarding the Army's capability to conduct operations beyond minor skirmishes. It also baselessly claimed declining morale among soldiers, increasing desertions, and alleged involvement of foreign entities, including Israelis, in military operations—all of which have been firmly rejected as unfounded.
Officials from the Ministry of Defence have voiced concerns regarding these propaganda tactics, which aim to instill distrust and fear. A senior official remarked, "This is clearly part of a conspiracy to discredit the Indian Armed Forces and create confusion among the public."
Cyber intelligence agencies are actively monitoring these accounts and the content they share, taking measures to identify and counteract hostile information campaigns originating from across the border.
Authorities have assured that the Indian Army is fully equipped and maintains high morale, dismissing any contrary claims as malicious attempts to undermine public confidence in national defense institutions.
Citizens are encouraged to stay alert against such psychological operations and to depend solely on official announcements from the Government of India and the Indian Armed Forces.
