Lucknow. The Government of Uttar Pradesh has taken a big step with the aim of identifying fake beneficiaries and benefiting eligible women under the widow pension scheme. The Women Welfare Department has issued instructions to all the districts and ordered the verification work of the beneficiaries of the scheme to be completed by 25 May. Under this process, the dead and ineligible beneficiaries will be excluded from the list, while eligible women will be informed through SMS.

Under the destitute women's pension scheme, the list of beneficiaries of rural and urban areas has been made available on the login portal of District Probation Officers. Block Development Officer in rural areas and Deputy District Magistrate or Executive Officer of Nagar Panchayats in urban areas will complete this verification work.

Explain that the Directorate of Women Welfare has issued a letter to all the Mandalayuktas and District Magistrates in this regard and directed that the list of beneficiaries should be downloaded in Excel format and its printout should be handed over to the concerned authorities.

Under this scheme, thousands of destitute women in the state are given a pension of ₹ 1000 every month. But in recent years, the government has taken this step after the names of dead and ineligible people in the pension scheme. After this process of verification, the list of beneficiaries will be made more transparent and authentic.

Government's objective clear

The aim of the state government is that only those needy women should get the benefit of pension, who are really eligible. This campaign will not only prevent misuse of government money, but will also prove to be a concrete effort towards providing assistance to the deprived women.
