Kozhikode: Following confirmation that three Pakistani nationals have requested long-term visas, the Kozhikode rural police have revoked the notifications they had previously issued. Puthanpuravalappil Hamsa, 79, Khamarunnisa, and her sister Asma are the three people who have been living in Kozhikode for a long time.
Born in Kerala, Hamsa moved to East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) in 1965 and eventually made Karachi his home. In 2007, he went back to Kerala and filed to become an Indian citizen.
According to Kozhikode police, five further Pakistani nationals on temporary visas have departed Kerala. The move follows the terror incident in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
The Pahalgam terror assault prompted the Union government to stop visa services for Pakistani nationals.
After the deadline for holders of short-term visas expired on Sunday, 537 Pakistani nationals have departed India over the Attari border in the last three days, an official said.
850 Indian people have returned to India in the last three days, according to Arun Pal, a protocol officer at the Attari Border, who spoke to ANI on Monday. He went on to say that 116 Indians and 237 Pakistanis returned to their homeland on Sunday alone.
“At ten in the morning, customs immigration desks opened. 116 Indian nationals returned from Pakistan and 237 Pakistani nationals returned from India prior to the counters closing. 850 Indian nationals and 537 Pakistani nationals have returned to India and Pakistan, respectively, since April 24. Pakistani passport holders have until April 29 to cross the border, according to the most recent information. Indian passport holders are no exception,” Pal said.
26 persons, mostly tourists, including one Nepalese national, were ruthlessly shot dead in the Pahalgam terror assault in Jammu and Kashmir. The event took place in Baisaran Meadow, close to the well-known tourist destination of Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, at around 2:00 pm. Since the 2019 Pulwama strike, which killed 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans, it has been one of the bloodiest strikes in the area.
