Neeraj chopra:Four days after winning the Paris Diamond League, India’s javelin throw superstar Neeraj Chopra won the title for the first time at the Golden Spike Meet here on Tuesday. Chopra won the Paris Diamond League on 20 June. He won the title by throwing an 85.29 meter throw among nine players in the Gold Tournament of the World Athletics Subcontinental Tour here. South Africa’s Dow Smt finished second with a throw of 84.12 meters while Anderson Peters of two -time world champion Grenada finished third with the first throw of 83.63 meters.
After the second round, Neeraj Chopra finished third, who started with a foul but then thrown a throw of 83.45 meters. He topped the third round with a throw of 85.29 meters. His next two throw stood at 82.17 meters and 81.01 meters while the last throw was foul.
The Rio Olympic 2016 gold medalist finished seventh with a throw of 79.18 meters of Germany. Julian Weber of Germany did not participate in this tournament, due to which two -time Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra was considered the strongest contender. In the last two seasons, he could not play here for fitness reasons. His coach Jaan Zelainji has won the title nine times here.
27 -year -old Neeraj Chopra finished second in the Doha Diamond League in May this season. He then won the Paris Diamond League title. Neeraj Chopra was part of the Asia Pacific team in the IAAF Continental Cup here in 2018 and finished sixth with a throw of 80.24 meters. He will now take part in Neeraj Chopra Classic in Bengaluru on 5 July, in which Peters and Roaler are also playing.
