Very heavy rain in Mumbai on 20th August, IMD’s red alert, wind will blow at a speed of 50 km

Heavy to very heavy rains are continuing in many districts of Maharashtra. On Tuesday, waterlogging occurred in many areas due to extremely heavy rains. The Meteorological Department has predicted that torrential rains may continue on 20th August.

There is a possibility of very heavy rain in many areas including Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri during the next 24 hours. IMD has issued a red alert. Due to heavy rain, the roads are filled with waist-deep water.

IMD has predicted heavy rains in the Ghat areas of Konkan and Central Maharashtra. IMD said that heavy to very heavy rains may occur in many areas and extremely heavy rains may occur at some places.

The Meteorological Department has predicted rain with lightning and strong winds with a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour at some places in Marathwada on Wednesday.

Many parts of Mumbai have received more than 200 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours. The highest rainfall was recorded in Vikhroli of the eastern suburbs, where 255.5 mm rainfall was recorded.

Due to continuous rain, schools, colleges, government and semi-government offices remained closed and the Mumbai High Court functioned only till noon. Mumbai Police has appealed to people not to leave their homes for unnecessary work.

Heavy rains have disrupted life in Mumbai. Due to continuous rains for several days, low lying areas have been flooded and waterlogging in many areas has badly affected traffic.
