Oracle layoffs: Oracle and Salesforce have announced fresh rounds of layoffs as the two software giants prepare to cut a significant portion of their workforce in the US market. The news comes amid a wave of job cuts that have plagued global IT majors over the past couple of years.
Why Oracle Salesforce are cutting jobs?
According to regulatory filings both Oracle and Salesforce have called the layoffs as part of their broader plans to restructure their resources and focus on growth areas. The restructuring process is aimed at cutting costs realigning teams and channeling investments into high-growth business areas such as cloud services and AI-driven solutions they said.
“We continuously assess our structure and rebalance as needed to best serve our customers and fuel growth areas a Salesforce spokesperson was quoted as saying.
When will Oracle layoffs begin?
As per reports Oracle and Salesforce plan to cut hundreds of jobs across California and Washington with Oracle eliminating 254 positions across Californias Redwood City Pleasanton and Santa Clara while Salesforce has sacked 262 workers in San Francisco.
The two software firms have cut more than 500 jobs in recent months and the layoffs which have been described as permanent by both companies are set to take effect on November 3 2025.
Notably the job cuts are not limited to California as Salesforce has laid off 93 employees at its Bellevue and Seattle offices and Oracle has cut 101 positions in the Seattle area.
