Actor and writer Osman Khalid Butt once again proved that humour can be a powerful tool for social change. Known for his bold stance on women’s rights and gender equality, the actor took to X (formerly Twitter) to mock toxic masculinity in a way that quickly went viral.
The discussion started when a clip from the drama Jama Taqseem, featuring Mawra Hocane and Talha Chahour, was shared online. In the scene, the male character Qais complains to his wife that his shoes, belt, and clothes are not laid out for him as they once were when his mother and sister-in-law looked after him. The post’s caption read, “Marriage is scary. What if he needs a wife to keep his socks and belt in place?”
The tweet sparked a flood of reactions. Amid the comments, one user—apparently a man—wrote that men should “never marry a girl who can’t tie a tie or clean their shoes.”
Osman Khalid Butt saw the post and decided to respond with humour. He wrote, “This list is weak. Allow me to expand.” His follow-up was a satirical “list” that exaggerated these outdated expectations to highlight how absurd they sound when spelled out.
His clever response quickly spread across the platform, earning praise for both its wit and message. Many users applauded the actor for calling out sexist attitudes with intelligence and humour.
One comment summed up the moment perfectly: “After Jinnah’s 14 points, we now have Obi’s 26 points. If this doesn’t make it into Pakistani literature, it’s a loss.”
Osman Khalid Butt has long used his platform to challenge social injustices. From speaking up in support of Noor Mukaddam’s case to promoting girls’ education with The Citizens Foundation, he has consistently stood for equality and accountability.
