But even today many people do not know why Karna is called the son of Surya, whereas we all know Shani Dev as the son of Surya. Then why is Karna of Mahabharata called the son of Surya? Let us know what is the reason behind this.
According to mythology, Karna was born with the blessings of Sun God himself. That’s why he was also called Suryaputra Karna. According to the story, Karna’s mother Kunti had received a boon from sage Durvasa by which she could invoke any god and have a child. Then Kunti remembered the Sun God and at that very moment a brilliant child Karna was born. Thus Surya is the mental father of Karna. Sun God provided armor and earrings to Karna at the time of his birth, which made him invincible.

We all worship Sun God. There are many religious and astrological benefits of offering Arghya to the Sun God in the morning. It is believed that worshiping the Sun increases the light of energy, confidence and success in a person’s life. If the position of Sun is strong in the horoscope, then respect increases in the society, relations with father remain good and success is achieved in job and business.
But Surya worship is considered to have been started by Karna. Karna’s worship of the Sun God was so strong that he not only worshiped the Sun himself but also spread this tradition to the masses. Even in the Mahabharata war, he used to lift the bow while standing in the direction of the Sun.
Karna considered Sun God as his idol since childhood and worshiped him throughout his life. Karna worships the Sun every morning. For this, they used to stand in waist-deep water in the sunlight, offer water to the rising sun and chant mantras. Not only this, Karna had taken a vow that when he would be worshiping the Sun, if anyone asked him for anything, he would never refuse. Because of Karna taking such a pledge of charity, he is also known as Danveer Karna.
