Mouni Roy has had a remarkable journey from television stardom to the silver screen and digital platforms. However, the journey to stardom is rarely easy for an actress. Recently, she appeared on Apurva Mukhija’s show and recounted how, when she was just 21 years old, a man made lewd advances towards her during a narration, leaving her traumatised for a long time.

Mouni was asked if she had encountered the casting couch during her acting career. Mouni replied, “There was no casting couch, but there was some indecent behaviour.” Mouni Roy said, “I was 21-22 years old, and I went to someone’s office where people were inside, and a narration was being given. Suddenly, a scene came up where a girl falls into a swimming pool, faints, and the hero pulls her out and gives her mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, and she regains consciousness.”

Mouni Roy further said, “The man literally grabbed my face and made me give her mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. For a moment, I couldn’t understand what was happening to me. I started shaking and ran downstairs. I was really scared for a long time.”

Mouni Roy’s Acting Journey

Mouni’s acting career began with the long-running daily soap “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.” She subsequently appeared in numerous TV shows and established herself in the Hindi television industry by participating in reality and dance shows. Her first breakthrough came when she played the mythological character Sati in “Devon Ke Dev…Mahadev.”

But her role as the shape-shifting serpent Shivanya in the supernatural series Naagin and its sequel made her a household name. The show became one of the highest-rated programs on Indian television. She made her official debut in Hindi cinema with the 2018 sports drama Gold, starring Akshay Kumar. Over the years, she has also appeared in several songs in films like K.G.F: Chapter 1. She has also appeared in films like Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva, Blackout, Veda, LSD 2, and Romeo Akbar Walter.
