CBSE Exams: Just hearing the words "board exams" can cause tension, right? The pressure of studying and the anxiety about results can weigh heavily on students' minds. But now, CBSE has understood this problem and has taken a significant step. From January 6, 2026, CBSE has launched Psycho-Social Counselling Services for students appearing for Class 10th and 12th board exams. This service aims to strengthen students mentally, reduce stress, and boost their confidence. The first phase will run from January 6 to June 11, 2026. Let's find out what this service is and how students can benefit from it.

What are the benefits of counselling?
This service is specifically designed to reduce the stress associated with board exams. It will help students maintain mental balance, increase self-confidence, and prepare mentally for the exams. Students will receive advice on stress management, time management, and study techniques. During board examinations, students' mental and emotional well-being is paramount. CBSE wants students to perform well without fear.

How will the helpline work?

The CBSE board has launched a 24x7 toll-free helpline number, 1800-11-8004, for examinees, which can be called anytime, and assistance is available in Hindi or English. Tele-counselling is available from Monday to Friday, from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM. For this service, CBSE has included a total of 73 trained experts, including principals, counselors, special educators, and psychologists. Experts from India, as well as Nepal, Japan, Qatar, Oman, and the UAE, are also part of this initiative. This means that Indian students studying abroad can also avail themselves of this service.

The CBSE website will also provide resources on stress management, effective study tips, and mental health.  It's important to note that these services are completely free.
