SRK Banking On Fans' Loyalty For King Is A Losing Battle Against Avengers: Doomsday

Shah Rukh Khan is one of the biggest celebrities in India, and his movies are likely to earn well at the box office even if they aren’t that good. That is just the kind of loyal fanbase that he has. Having built it over decades, his fans are such that they understand his prime hasn’t gone away.

With the potential release date for King making waves, it would seem that December 25, 2026, may not be the final release date. Even though it is an SRK movie, there exists far too much competition to rely on his name and fame alone.

Shah Rukh Khan’s King May Be Too Ambitious

Shakti Shalini, Angry Birds 3, Avengers: Doomsday, Dune 3 and more movies are all releasing in the same time frame as King. In this lot, Doomsday and Dune 3 are also two of the most anticipated movies in the world, at the moment. The competition isn’t easy; it is brutal.

While it is understandable that Shah Rukh Khan fans will always love him and his films, it doesn’t make sense to find the worst possible release window to release a movie on such a large scale. The competition is too unfair for it to get a chance to shine properly. It isn’t as though people won’t want to watch it.

However, in front of films like literally the most hyped Marvel movie since Avengers: Endgame and Denis Villeneuve's third movie, it is as though King is being destined for failure. It won’t even get a chance, even though it deserves a chance.

King Will End Up Losing the Throne

Shah Rukh Khan is literally called King Khan. He is titled as the King of Bollywood. There was no better name for a movie starring him than King. Which is why, when a film so perfectly garnered for him is competing with others that the audiences are more interested in, it feels unfair.

Fans are also worried about what would happen to the movie. People genuinely want to watch it, which is what is motivating them to call out how problematic the timing is. It is still better than releasing it on the same day as Dunesday. It is also understandable that the initial December 5 release day was postponed because of Ramayana.

However, it doesn’t negate the pre-existing and very tough competition.
