Meta and Oakley have together launched the new Oakley Meta Vanguard smart glasses in India, which is specially designed for athletes and outdoor users. This is considered to be the new sports version of Ray-Ban Meta glasses. It has 12 megapixel camera, full HD video recording and Meta AI integration. Users can take photos, videos, calls and use AI assistant directly from the glasses. India-focused features like Hindi language and UPI Lite support have also been added.
The starting price of Oakley Meta Vanguard in India has been kept at Rs 52,300. This smart glass is available for purchase at Sunglass Hut, LensCrafters and leading optical stores across the country. It has been introduced in four different variants, in which different Prizm lens options have been given. Prizm 24K, Prizm Black, Prizm Road and Prizm Sapphire lens options are available with Black and White frames. This product has been launched keeping in mind the premium segment users and sports lovers.
Oakley Meta Vanguard is specifically designed for high-intensity outdoor sports and cycling. Its wraparound design provides better coverage and protection to the eyes. Its weight is about 66 grams, which makes it easy to wear for a long time. It has got IP67 rating, which means it is protected from dust and water to a great extent. Prizm lens technology is provided to reduce the effect of sunlight, wind and dust, thereby improving outdoor visibility.
This smart glass has a 12 megapixel camera installed in the center, which does first person view recording with 122 degree field of view. With the help of the glasses, users can record 1080p video at 30fps for up to five minutes and 60fps for up to three minutes. This also allows limited time recording at 3K resolution, which can be shared on meta apps like Facebook and Instagram. It has a setup of open-ear speakers and five microphones. It has features like new action button and custom button camera and mode control.
Meta AI integration has been provided in Oakley Meta Vanguard, which can be activated by saying Hey Meta AI. Users can do tasks like identifying songs, asking questions, reading messages and media control through voice. Hindi language support, Hindi voice interaction and UPI Lite payment controls have also been added for India. Deepika Padukone's voice has also been included in the AI voice option. Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6E support is available for connectivity. The device has 32GB of storage, battery life is said to be nine hours in normal use and up to a total of 36 hours with the charging case.
