According to AsiaOneLeung and Lau attended the Dior Fall/Winter 2026 menswear show in Paris on Jan. 21. A video posted the same day on Chinese social media platform Weibo shows Lau, 61, animatedly chatting with Canadian singer Henry Lau, while Leung stands slightly to the side with his hands clasped behind his back, smiling politely and listening in silence.
Later in the clip, Chinese actor Yu Shi approaches the couple. Lau takes the initiative to invite Yu to pose for a solo photograph with Leung, who obliges with his trademark calm smile.
The footage quickly trended on Weibo, with netizens noting that Leung appeared content to observe the conversation rather than participate in it, an example, many said, of his endearing introverted personality.
“Henry and Carina were having a great time chatting, and Tony looked adorable like a little audience member next to them,” one user commented.
Another joked: “Tony Leung: My silence is deafening. You guys just have fun chatting.”
A third wrote: “This scene is hilarious! Tony Leung’s onlooker-style of social interaction is so cute!”
In another clip circulating online, the couple is seen walking hand in hand outdoors. While Lau appears engaged with her surroundings, Leung looks momentarily dazed, his gaze fixed into the distance as photographers’ flashes go off around them, further reinforcing fans’ perceptions of his introspective nature.
Leung has previously spoken openly about his preference for solitude. According to Dimsum Dailyhe said in a 2023 interview that his introversion stemmed in part from unhappy childhood experiences, including his parents’ long-running conflict and eventual divorce, which affected him deeply. He recalled being more cheerful as a child before becoming increasingly reticent after his father left the family.
On another occasion, Leung also shared that Japan is his favorite travel destination, noting that he appreciates being able to travel there without having to speak much to anyone.
Now 64, Leung began his acting career in 1982 and is widely regarded as one of Asia’s most acclaimed and internationally recognized actors. He is especially known for his long-standing collaboration with director Wong Kar Wai, appearing in seven of his films, including “In the Mood for Love,” which earned him the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival.
He married Lau in 2008.
Lau began her acting career in 1984 and rose to prominence in the 1980s through a string of popular television dramas. She later transitioned successfully into film, with notable roles in the “Infernal Affairs” sequels and Wong Kar Wai’s “2046” further cementing her international profile.
