Amazon has unveiled a new range of Fire TVs in a major shake-up of its tech line-up. The retail giant has released new and improved versions of its 2-Series, 4-Series, and Omni QLED models.
It says each model features a sleeker design and ‘enhanced’ performance thanks to Wi-Fi 6 support and a new quad-core processor, which allows apps to open and load faster, and the picture stays smooth. The new models are available at Amazon with an introductory offer that slashes prices by up to 40%, but it’s due to expire on Wednesday (February 11).
Amazon’s most powerful model is the new Fire TV Omni QLED Series, available in sizes 50” – 65” and prices starting at £419.99 (usually £649.99). This 4K QLED model is touted as delivering ‘stunning’ visuals on its display that’s 60% larger than the previous version.

It offers brighter whites and crisper blacks thanks to twice as many local dimming zones, with Dolby Vision and HDR10+ Adaptive technology ensuring content is vibrant. This Omi Series can also adjust the display depending on a room’s lighting, so viewers can always enjoy the clearest image.
As well as easy access to streaming apps like Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+, the Fire TV can display photos or artwork, with the new Interactive Art feature. This responds dynamically to a person’s movements.
With Amazon’s new ‘Omnisense’ technology, built-in sensors wake the TV’s display when it detects a viewer. However, a caveat is that paid subscriptions are required to stream content from certain streaming platforms like Netflix and Disney+.
Apps like BBC iPlayer and ITVX offer free streaming for people with a TV license, while Amazon’s Prime Video is available with a 30-day free trial.
The new rivals are Sky’s own smart TV range, which has been reduced in the final stage of the brand’s winter sale. Until February 11, the Sky Glass Air and Sky Glass Gen 2 are reduced to £4.25 and £10.25 per month, respectively, when paired with a Sky subscription from £15.
Also in Amazon’s new line-up is the Fire TV 4-Series, available in sizes 43” – 55” and prices starting at £259.99 (usually £429.99). This model offers 4K Ultra HD resolution, ultra-thin bezels and a new quad-core processor that helps it run 30% faster than the previous version.
Amazon’s new entry-level model is the Fire TV 2-Series, available in sizes 32” – 40” and prices starting at £149.99 (usually £249.99). This budget-friendly option delivers crisp Full HD 720p and is ideal for smaller spaces like a kitchen, a child’s room or a caravan.
Both the 2-Series and 4-Series also feature the same ‘Omnisense’ technology as the Omni QLED Series, as well as Alexa voice control via the remote and TV itself. Gamers can also play free games with each Fire TV model, with downloadable games available from the Appstore or streamed from the cloud with Amazon Luna.
