Malaysia welcomed 3.4 million Singaporean visitors in the first two months of 2026, up 9.6% year-on-year and accounting for nearly half of total international tourist arrivals.

Singapore remained one of the leading sources of visitor arrivals, contributing significantly to Malaysia’s tourism industry, Malaysian High Commissioner to Singapore Datuk Dr Azfar Mohamad Mustafar said, as quoted by The Star newspaper.

“We are particularly encouraged by initiatives aimed at inspiring Singaporeans to visit Malaysia multiple times a year, transforming one-day excursionists into overnight tourists and increasing their average length of stay,” he said at the opening of the 38th Travel Malaysia Fair 2026 on Friday.

Malaysia stands out as an attractive holiday destination for Singaporean travelers amid ongoing global fuel surcharge volatility, he added.

Traveling from Singapore to Malaysia typically takes about one hour by air, or four to seven hours by bus or car to Kuala Lumpur, depending on traffic and immigration procedures.

Malaysia’s tourism sector recorded 42.2 million visitors in 2025, an 11.2% year-on-year increase, making it the most visited country in Southeast Asia.
