So Google is giving its Play Points loyalty program a little different angle, like, members in the U.S. can trade the points they’ve stacked up for a shot at winning a bunch of rare collectibles , plus entertainment experiences, and gaming gear too.
Announced August 21, the new Google Play Sweepstakes opens a vault holding more than 20,000 prizes. Google says eligible Play Points members can redeem their points for “unlimited” chances to win until September 14, 2026.
Instead of just swapping points for a set discount or a straightforward digital reward, this promo basically turns Play Points into sweepstakes entries, and those entries cover a handful of higher value prizes. Google is also throwing in extra perks for people who pick bigger entry bundles.
The sweepstakes are rolling out now via the Play Store’s You tab, on Android phones and tablets.
Honestly the top reward isn’t even really a gadget at all. Google is offering an original Amazing Fantasy #15 , the 1962 comic book that introduced Spider-Man. The copy listed is CGC graded 5.0, and the certification number is #2707814001. That makes it a pretty standout prize for Marvel and comic-book collectors. Amazing Fantasy #15 is widely treated as one of the most historically important comic books ever printed, because it’s the first appearance of Spider-Man.
Google paired that up with another major “grand prize”: a New York Comic Con VIP experience. The package includes VIP tickets for the winner and one guest, flights , and a four-night stay at the New York Marriott Marquis in Times Square.
For fans, it means the sweepstakes aren’t only about merchandise that gets shipped to your doorstep. One of the headline rewards is basically this experience built around one of the biggest moments in pop culture, and yeah, it’s sort of a big deal.
The full prize list goes way past those two grand prizes. Google also says people can jump in for Funko Pop! collectible figures, with anime and manga figures, chase variants, and some other tricky, harder-to-find bits like the Pop! Plus Monkey D. Luffy Statue. For movie people there are AMC Theatres tickets too. That includes black ticket and popcorn vouchers, and those can be redeemed at AMC locations across the U.S. also.
On the premium side there are Hot Toys collectibles, including the Batman Deluxe Version and Superman & Krypto Sixth Scale Figure Sets, presented by Sideshow. Gamers have their own corner of it, and one of the weirder prizes is a Backbone One Post Malone Limited Edition Controller. Google points out the glow-in-the-dark controller comes in a handmade acrylic package, and it’s made in only 500 units.
All of that together makes the sweepstakes feel pretty broadly appealing, stretching across comics, anime, film, gaming, and live entertainment, at once.
This whole thing is built around Google Play Points, so you’ll probably want to have those ready. Eligible U.S. members can open the Google Play Store on an Android phone or tablet and go straight to the You tab. After that, the sweepstakes should let users trade their Play Points in for entries. Google says you can enter as many times as you want, and like… the bigger point packets can unlock extra special bonuses too.
So honestly it feels like it is especially useful if you’ve already earned a decent stash of Play Points from your usual activity on Google Play. Google has also said very clearly that no purchase is required to take part, and the complete official rules are available inside the promotion.
Play Points has long been a way for users to rack up points through eligible activity on Google Play, then redeem those points for rewards. This sweepstakes basically takes that idea and points it more toward the “experience” side. Instead of sticking only to things like discounts, in game items, or other digital perks, Google is putting physical keepsakes and big entertainment experiences into the mix.
That also seems to line up with Google’s bigger plan to make Play Points feel more meaningful beyond a single app or game where you originally earned them. The company has already used Play Points for exclusive merchandise and event goodies, including Comic-Con style promotions. The newer sweepstakes pushes that further by placing a larger set of prizes behind the points system.
The new Google Play Sweepstakes gives Play Points members another reason to check those accumulated balances. The biggest pull is undoubtedly the original Amazing Fantasy #15, but the prize pool also brings New York Comic Con VIP access, Funko Pop collectibles, AMC movie tickets, Hot Toys figures and even a rare Backbone One controller.
For eligible U.S. users , entry is handled right through the Google Play Store’s You tab, and Google says entries can be made without needing to buy anything. With 20,000+ prizes floating around and entries open until September 14, 2026, Google’s latest Play Points push is basically turning unused loyalty points into something that feels more like a last minute opportunity for unusually high value collectibles and experiences.
