New Delhi: American technology company Google has made a big announcement for the college students of India. The company has announced to provide free Google AI Plus subscription for one year to eligible students. The aim of this initiative is to provide students with easy access to advanced Artificial Intelligence tools for studies, research and skill development.
According to Google, under this offer, eligible students will get a chance to use many AI features including Gemini Omni. Apart from this, double the usage limit as compared to normal users, 400GB cloud storage and other additional AI features will be available free of charge for one year.
Google has also introduced a special discounted package of Google AI Pro and YouTube Premium in addition to AI subscription for students. According to the company, through this package, students can save up to 70 percent while taking advantage of ad-free music and video streaming services.
The company has also added new educational tools to Gemini and Google Search. Student Hub will be made available to students, where they can manage their studies and access Gemini's educational features. Apart from this, Google has also introduced a new feature called Study Notebook. It is designed to give students personalized study support.
The Study Notebook system will assess students' subject understanding through diagnostic quizzes. This will help in finding out in which subjects or concepts the students are strong and in which areas they need more preparation. Based on this, small study programs will be prepared according to the needs and goals of the students.
Google has also given information about improving Gemini Live. Now students will be able to ask for deep research reports on the go and talk about them through voice. This can help in understanding complex topics and obtaining research information.
New features added to Google Search will allow students to create interactive visual content to understand difficult concepts. Along with this, practice quizzes to different subjects and competitive exams can also be solved.
At the same time, through Google Lens, students will be helped in understanding any topic or question step by step. Students will be able to create notebooks to organize their academic projects and create customized files to better manage study material.
Google says that the educational tools available on Search, Gemini and YouTube have been developed with security in mind. According to the company, their design is based on the principles of learning science and aims to enhance the personalized learning experience of students, while keeping the role of teachers at the centre.
According to the company, this student offer is available in more than 140 countries and markets where Google AI Plus service operates. Eligible students in India can avail this free offer till 31 December 2026. For this, the prescribed verification process and other applicable conditions will have to be fulfilled.
