New Delhi: An Indian software engineer working in America has set an example by turning her hobby into a means of earning. Priyanka Jain also does the work of applying mehendi along with her full-time job as a software engineer. She shared a video on Instagram and told how much she earns by working as a Mehndi artist in America. This video of his is now becoming increasingly viral on social media.
Priyanka told that her main income comes from her job as a software engineer. Applying mehendi is not a job for her, but a choice and passion, which she has turned into a side business. Through this, apart from their regular income, they also earn additional income. As a Mehndi artist, Priyanka charges 100 dollars per hour i.e. around 9 to 10 thousand rupees. Apart from this, many customers also give them a tip of up to 20 percent on top of the fees. Their earnings further increase in big assignments to weddings and brides.
According to Priyanka, by spending about 10 hours in any bridal and wedding mehendi work, she can earn up to Rs 1 lakh. However, he also made it clear that along with high income in America, the expenditure is also very high. Therefore, it would not be correct to estimate the earnings there just by looking at the amount in Indian Rupees.
For Priyanka, more important than the extra income from Mehndi is the respect she gets as an artist. He said that in America the work of artists is given a lot of importance and they feel respected for their skills.
Comparing people’s perception about the profession of Mehndi artist in India, he said that here it is not always considered as a good career. Whereas in America he was never made to feel that his work was small or unimportant. This is the reason why this experience is more special for them than money. Priyanka’s video has received about 10 million or one crore views on Instagram. He has around 28,500 followers on his social media account.
