Jai Jawan Story Series: If your age is between 17 years to 21 years, then this is a great opportunity to get the 'Navy Jackpot'. If you get this 'Jackpot' of the Navy, then believe me, no one can stop your luck from changing. Not only this but after getting this 'Jackpot', you will not have to look back for the next 20 years of your life. Indian Navy has released recruitment for Sailor posts. This recruitment for the post of Sailor is the 'Jackpot' of the Navy for you.

Since these recruitments for the Sailor post are for the medical branch, it becomes very important for you to know whether you will have to pass the physical fitness test to get a job on the post or not. Will you have to run like the Army to get a job in this military force deployed in the sea? So let us tell you the answers to these questions and introduce you to the entire recruitment process for the Sailor post in the Indian Navy.

As far as the question is concerned, you will have to pass the physical fitness test to get recruited in the Indian Navy, then the answer is yes. In the Indian Navy, the physical ability and efficiency of the candidate are assessed through four different activities. Since many people believe that the Sailor in the Indian Navy is deployed in the sea and their scope is limited to warships or submarines, hence there are no running and other physical activities like the Army for recruitment to the Sailor post. If you are also preparing for recruitment in the Navy believing the same, then your belief is completely wrong.

The Navy's PFT is slightly different from the Army.
According to a senior officer associated with the recruitment of the Indian Navy, the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) in the Navy starts with running. Here the candidates have to complete a 1.6 km run in 6 minutes 30 seconds. Apart from this, during PFT, the candidate has to do 20 squats, 15 pushups, and about the same number of bent knee situps. Yes, PFT in the Navy is indeed a little easier than the Army. Army candidates get only 5.30 minutes to complete a 1.6 km run. Apart from this, the candidates have to complete a 9-foot-long jump and zig-zag balance.

What is the complete recruitment process for sailors in the Navy?
Since the Navy has currently released recruitment for the medical branch, so at present only those candidates can apply who have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in 10+2 (12th class).

The Navy recruitment process is completed in three stages. In the first phase, candidates are shortlisted based on marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in the 10+2 (12th class) examination. This shortlisting is done state-wise.

In the second phase, shortlisted candidates are called for a Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and written examination. First, there is PFT, in which running, pushups, sit-ups, etc. are done.

Candidates who are successful in PFT are called for a written examination, in which 100 questions related to English, Science, Biology, General Awareness, and Reasoning are asked. In this objective-type examination, you can give your answers in Hindi and English.

Candidates who pass the written examination are called for recruitment medical examination. A merit list of candidates who are successful in this examination is released.

Candidates who get a place on the merit list are called for a pre-enrollment examination. This exam is held at INS Chilka in Odisha.

Candidates who get a place on the merit list are finally called for a final medical examination. Candidates who are successful in the medical examination are sent to INS Chilka in Odisha for training.
