Tumbbad Box Office Biz Better Than Yudhra, Horror Film Scares Up ₹18.98 Crore In Re-Release

Tumbbad Re-Release: In its second innings at the domestic box office, actor-producer Sohum Shah's Tumbbad has raked in ₹18.98 crore nett in nine days.
Directed by Rahi Anil Barve and produced by the actor under his banner Sohum Shah Films, the atmospheric horror drama received critical acclaim when it was released in theatres on October 12, 2018. It was re-released in theatres on Friday on popular demands from fans and is enjoying a dream run, despite facing competition from new releases and the box office juggernaut Stree 2. It minted ₹13.44 crore in its opening week. On Friday, which was National Cinema Day, it collected ₹3.04 crore, followed by ₹3.04 on Saturday. Now, in nine days, the cumulative collections stand at ₹18.98 crore. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, there is a good chance of the film minting ₹30 crore plus, making it a record for re-release movies. Yudhra, which is a new release and hit the screens on September 20, collected ₹1.48 core on its second day, much-lesser than Tumbbad. Taking to his Instagram account on Saturday, Sohum made the announcement through a video teaser that features characters Vinayak and his son Pandurang, with a voiceover from Sohum Shah saying, "Samay ka pahiya gol hai, jo beet gaya woh fir laut ke aayega...darwaaza bhi ek baar phir khulega." The teaser ends with the ominous words, "Pralay, Pralay phir aayega," hinting at a darker and larger-scale sequel. However, the original film's director Rahi Anil Barve will not direct the sequel. He will instead work on his much-awaited projects - Pahadpangira and Pakshitirtha.
