Following a short appearance, Mehidy Hasan Miraz (20) was dismissed by Bumrah shortly after the lunch break. After playing several aggressive strokes, including a boundary off Siraj, Hasan was eventually overrun by Bumrah, who created an edge that Shubman Gill easily took in the slip cordon. Bumrah’s authority was evident when he dismissed Taijul Islam (5) with a brilliant delivery that smashed into the stumps and slashed back into the batsman.

Earlier on Monday, Bumrah returned to action with a blistering session after going wicketless on Day 1. With a beauty of a ball that nipped the top of the off stump, he dismissed Mushfiqur Rahim (16), who had escaped some early scares, to leave Bangladesh at 112/4. He swiftly found success in the opening session.

Mominul Haque scored a courageous century without losing, but the Bangladeshi batsmen were unable to muster much of a fight as the hosts quickly finished the innings.

When the second session began on 205/6, Bangladesh mostly depended on Haque, who struck 107 off 194 balls with determination. The captain Najmul Hossain Shanto’s 31 from Day 1 remained the second-highest scoring in the innings, and his tenacious effort was the sole noteworthy resistance.

The Indian player that stood out the most was Jasprit Bumrah, who finished with 3/50.

Subsequently, Mohammed Siraj claimed two wickets, one of which was Hasan Mahmud, who went leg before wicket because of a fast inswinger. With only one wicket left to lose, Bangladesh’s review had no effect on the result.

India’s supremacy was cemented when Ravindra Jadeja bowled Khaled Ahmed for his 300th Test wicket. The left-arm spinner became the seventh and second quickest bowler in Indian history to attain the milestone, taking only 17,428 balls to do so, second only to R Ashwin. This made him an elite member of the bowling community.

With their disciplined bowling and deft fielding, India prevented Bangladesh from gaining any momentum. Even though Mominul Haque scored a fantastic century, India’s bowlers tightened their lines and lengths in the latter part of the innings, depriving him of strikes. They were able to reach 233 thanks to his heroic effort.

Play eventually started on Day 4 at 9:30 am with Bangladesh at 107/3, after two days of rain-soaked play. India maintained their hold on the game with crisp maiden overs from Akash Deep and Bumrah.

In summary, Bangladesh defeated India by scoring 233 runs in 74.2 overs (Mominul Haque 107 not out, Najmul Hossain Shanto 31; Jasprit Bumrah 3-50, Akash Deep 2-43).
