Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty's son, actor Mimoh Chakraborty, is overwhelmed and "utterly grateful" as his father will be .The actor spoke to India Today Digital exclusively and shared his excitement.
"The man has given so much to us," Mimoh, 40, said, adding, "Whether it's from his films, whether it's him doing so much humanitarian work, and just coming to this position of being recognised and being honoured. I'm completely overwhelmed and so grateful." When asked how they plan to celebrate this joyous occasion, Mimoh replied, "I still haven't had a word with him because he's shooting in Kolkata right now. So I think the only way we can celebrate is by just being in the moment and just being thankful to God, to all his fans, and also to the government because of the recognition that they have given him." Mimoh shared that even Mithun would prefer to celebrate this big achievement by working more. "I think he also wants that we all should be working. My wife and I, we are all working right now. My siblings, my mom, and Namashi are in LA shooting. So I think that is the biggest celebration—to be in the process of the work that he's been recognised for and to do that work and carry on," he said.
During the interaction, Mimoh also picked his father's films which are his favourites. "There are so many of them, but if you really want me to pick, I think it would be 'Phool Aur Angaar' because he is like the ultimate action hero for me in that. So that film for sure, then 'Jallaad', 'OMG', 'Mrigayaa', and of course his role as Ramakrishna Paramahansa in 'Swami Vivekananda'. He also did this one film 'Gudia' in which he played a ventriculitis. I think that is one of those underrated films which should be mentioned highly. So definitely that also stands out," Mimoh shared. Concluding the conversation, Mimoh mentioned that he would like Mithun's Phool Aur Angaar to be re-released in theatres. "I would buy a ticket and go and see that film again for sure," he said. Mithun Chakraborty will be presented with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award at the 70th National Film Awards on October 8, 2024.
