After becoming the head coach, Gautam Gambhir has once again gone back on his own words. The player for whom he once raised his voice. He had also expressed his displeasure when that player was dropped after being named Player of the Series. Now, despite taking the most wickets in the Sri Lanka T20 series, he himself did not give him a chance in the first match against Bangladesh. We are talking about Ravi Bishnoi here. After becoming the Player of the Series against Australia in December 2023, Bishnoi did not get a chance to play a single T20 match on the South Africa tour. Then Gambhir was very angry at the decision of the selectors. Now he himself has worked with Bishnoi there.

Injustice twice within 1 year

A 5-match T20 series was played between India and Australia in December 2023, a month after the end of the ODI World Cup. In this series, Ravi Bishnoi took 9 wickets in 5 matches. For this he was chosen Player of the Series. After this, the Indian team reached South Africa for a 3-match T20 series, where Bishnoi was not played a single match. Even at that time Suryakumar Yadav was the captain of the team. He was captaining the team for the first time. Then Gautam Gambhir had strongly criticized the decision to oust Bishnoi.

Gautam Gambhir had said that 'Being player of the series is the criteria for being dropped from the team. Therefore this should never be achieved. After becoming the head coach, Bishnoi showed his talent for the first time on the Sri Lanka tour and took the most wickets in the T20 series. Now Gambhir went back on his words and benched him in the first match against Bangladesh and gave a chance to Varun Chakraborty, who plays for Kolkata Knight Riders. In this way, injustice was done to Bishnoi twice within a year. Despite performing well, he did not get a place in the playing eleven for the second time.

Gambhir has reversed before also

Gautam Gambhir always used to advocate for the Indian coach before becoming the head coach. He believed that only an Indian coach should be selected for Team India at any cost. He had also criticized BCCI many times regarding foreign coaches. However, when he himself became the head coach of Team India, he included two foreign coaches in his coaching staff. First, he appointed his long-time partner Ryan ten Deschate as assistant coach. Then Morne Morkel, who had worked with him in IPL, was brought to Team India as bowling coach.
